Cotton

Cotton futures are 9 to 16 points lower this morning. They were 35 to 88 points lower on Monday, as the US dollar was 557 points higher. The dollar is slightly higher this morning. The US cotton harvest was reported at 17% complete as of Sunday, compared to the average of 13%. The Crop Progress report also showed 67% of the crop with bolls opening. Condition ratings fell 3% in gd/ex ratings to 57%. The Brugler500 index dropped to 349, down 8 points from the previous week as it also incorporates changes in the lower condition categories. The USDA AWP will be 60.55 cents/lb through Thursday. The Cotlook A index for September 29 was up 25 points from the previous day at 79.05 cents/lb.
