Cotton

Cotton futures posted losses of 11 to 33 points in most contracts. The House voted to pass new tax bill this afternoon, but will have to hold another vote to revise provisions which did not meet Byrd rules in the Senate. The Senate vote is set for tonight. Following that announcement the US dollar fell sharply and ended the day 233 points lower. The Cotlook A index was 75 points higher from the day prior on December 18 to 86.65 cents/lb. Online cash sales on the Seam dropped to 19,979 bales on December 18, with prices averaging 68.77 cents/lb, down 130 points from the previous day.

Mar 18 Cotton closed at 75.030, down 17 points,

May 18 Cotton closed at 75.330, down 31 points

Oct 18 Cotton closed at 73.680, down 8 points
