Cotton futures are trading 72 to 78 points lower this morning in the old crop contracts. They were steady to 81 points higher in most contracts on Monday. December continues to try to buy acreage and is close to UNCH. China’s cotton imports from the US totaled 69,467 MT during January, with total Jan imports at 133,908 MT. Last Thursday’s Cotton On-Call report indicated that mills reduced their March unfixed call sales position by 6,047 contracts during the week of 2/16. That position was down to 2,895 contracts, as May was at 33,128 contracts for that week. The Cotlook A index was down 100 points from the previous day on February 23 at 89.20 cents/lb.
