Cotton futures are trading 30 to 51 points lower this morning, as the US dollar saw some strength overnight. They posted gains of 24 to 33 points in the actively months on Tuesday. TX had 20% of the bolls opening as of Sunday, ahead of the 18% average. US condition ratings on the Brugler500 index were 10 points higher this past week at 315. That happened despite worse conditions in the three largest producing states. Texas, GA, and MS all saw deteriorating conditions offset by improvement in other states. US cotton acreage in 2019 is estimated at 13.8 million acres according to a Farm Futures survey. The Cotlook A index was down 75 points from the previous day at 91.40 cents/lb on August 24. The weekly AWP is 73.83 cents/lb, good through Thursday.
